ResearchMethods.org and GrmdsAI form a knowledge platform for AI transformation through Holistic Computation (HC), Artificial Spiritual Intelligence (ASI), and the AI Maturity Ladder.
Our work integrates data science, causality, systems thinking, and responsible AI to help organizations move from fragmented experimentation to scalable, trustworthy, and high-impact transformation.
Global Association for Research Methods, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (GrmdsAI) is the continuation of the RM Institute, which has delivered consultation and training in research methods, data science, machine learning, and AI since 2000. Formally established in California as a non-profit in 2016, GrmdsAI serves as the steward of the intellectual property and ecosystem behind Holistic Computation (HC), including 4Capital, Causal AI, and the 4Es operating framework.
Since 2019, we have established and supported technology labs, developed HC use cases, and served customers and partners across multiple sectors. Today, our platform continues to evolve toward a broader mission: helping individuals and organizations achieve responsible AI transformation with clarity, accountability, and long-term value creation.
We advance rigorous, responsible, and value-aligned research and AI practice so organizations can turn evidence into reliable, equitable decisions at scale for impacts.
ResearchMethods.org is not just an informational website. It is a developing knowledge platform built around an integrated framework for AI transformation.
Together, these pillars connect strategy, systems, causality, governance, and human values into one coherent approach to transformation.
We are mission-driven, vendor-neutral, and privacy-first. Our purpose is to build capacity, not dependency, and to help each partner move from data to decisions, and from decisions to impact.
If you are new to our work, we recommend starting with these core entry points:

an AI educator at Caltech, and an adjunct professor at Claremont Graduate University.
From 2013 to 2019, he was recognized as a thought leader in data science and served as a
Distinguished Data Scientist at IBM, where he held the role of Chief Data Scientist for
Analytics Services.
Before joining IBM, Dr. Liu worked as Chief Data Scientist for several companies, including iSKY and Retention Science. He also has an extensive academic background, teaching advanced quantitative methods to MBA and PhD candidates at the University of Southern California and the University of California, Irvine. During this period, he consulted for prominent organizations such as the United Nations and Ingram Micro.
Dr. Liu holds an MS in Statistical Computing and a PhD in Quantitative Sociology from Stanford University. Read more about Dr. Alex Liu.
